Blown glass and found heron feather.

14 x 3”

Leeay Aikawa created these glass-blown windchimes at Toyama Glass Studio in her hometown of Toyama, Japan, with the support of a local glass artist. Responding to the “Here” (land) and “Now” (seasons) as a site for healing, each windchime cools the summer through its sound in collaboration with the wind. Every piece features a heron feather collected from a shrine in Toyama, where Aikawa witnessed the aftermath of a heron’s defense against crows attacking its nest. Originally part of the larger sculptural work Cry of the Sky, Yearning for the Earth (2024), the windchimes are available for purchase individually.
